About the Author

Steph Davis

At 8 years old, I remember looking at one of my large and colorful children’s books with the eyes of an almost-grownup. Laying aside my childish ambitions of being a famous actress, I seriously contemplated. I could be a children’s illustrator.

I honestly don’t know if the thought occurred again until I was 20, when I began the journey to share my family’s story with the next generation.

But God knew. And in the meantime, He had blessed me with the best training for every facet of the book’s production.

My greatest thanks to my parents who helped me so much with the research of the book. Dad told and re-told us the story, reminiscing about growing up in the American-Waldensian homeland of Valdese, North Carolina. And my mom endeavored to read every line of history about the Waldensians that we could get our hands on to ensure the accuracy and true drama of the story.
